Nuclear Regulatory Agency has published a site selection guide for near-surface off-site facilities
The Nuclear Regulatory Authority has published a guide to site selection code 2026-KLV-004 for near-surface disposal facilities. These facilities are structures where low-level radioactive waste is disposed of at near-earth depths.
What does it mean?
A guide has been published which places are suitable for radioactive waste to be safely stored close to the ground. This guide describes the rules to be followed when choosing places to build the facility.
