Istanbul Airport's New Runway Saved 284 Tons of Fuel in 1 Month

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that in the first month after the 4. runway at Istanbul Airport opened on 18 September 2026, 1.738 departures were made and approximately 284 tons of fuel were saved on these flights. The savings come from aircraft being able to take off on shorter routes. The calculation is based on the Ministry's reference coefficients for fuel and emissions.
