Second workshop held for disaster risk reduction plan for 2027–2031 in Istanbul
At the workshop attended by AFAD President Ali Hamza Pehlivan and Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, preparations for Istanbul's disaster risk reduction plan for the 2027–2031 period were discussed. The current plan for the 2022–2026 period will be completed at the end of 2026. The first workshop was attended by 71 institutions and organizations and 39 district municipalities; the second workshop aims to determine the final actions and targets.
What does it mean?
A step was taken in preparing a new disaster plan for Istanbul. This plan will set out which measures will be taken and which work will be done to reduce the harm caused by disasters.
Who is affected?
The people of Istanbul who live with disaster risk, and the institutions and municipalities that will carry out the plan.
What changes?
The current plan covers the 2022–2026 period and ends at the end of 2026; the new plan will cover the 2027–2031 period.
