France sets 2025 local shares of long-distance transport infrastructure tax
France's transport minister, Philippe Tabarot, has signed an order setting how much of a long-distance transport infrastructure tax goes to each local authority for 2025. The individual amounts are listed in an annex, and publication in the Official Journal on 30 October 2026 counts as formal notice to the local authorities concerned. The order rests on a decree of 12 September 2025 as amended on 23 September 2026.
What does it mean?
Local councils that host long-distance transport infrastructure now know the exact euro amount each one gets from this tax for 2025. Each council receives its own figure, and the full list is in the annex to the order. Anyone who thinks their share is wrong has two months from publication to challenge it in court.
Who is affected?
Local authorities (collectivités territoriales) that receive shares of the tax, and anyone wanting to challenge the amounts.
