France orders recall of Malaysian ultra-thin condoms after failed safety tests
France has ordered that ultra-thin condoms made by Malaysian company RICHTER RUBBER TECHNOLOGY Sdn. Bhd. be withdrawn, recalled, and no longer sold or imported. The order is dated 22 October 2026 and was published on 30 October 2026. Two batches failed pressure, burst-volume and perforation tests, and the DGCCRF-DGDDI laboratory service declared them non-compliant and dangerous on 20 May 2026. The manufacturer said on 21 September 2026 that manually adding ammonia water to the latex bath caused the danger.
What does it mean?
French authorities have ordered these ultra-thin condoms taken off the market. Shops and importers must stop selling and bringing them into France, and the affected batches must be recalled. Tests found two batches failed safety checks.
Who is affected?
People who buy or use these condoms in France, and shops and importers that sell or bring them into the country.
What changes?
The products were first certified under directive 93/42/EEC on 16 December 2019. They were later certified under regulation (EU) 2017/745 on 6 February 2026.
