France limits who can prescribe TENTIN and requires heart monitoring

France's health and public accounts ministers have added conditions to how TENTIN, a dexamphetamine medicine, may be prescribed for public services, in an order dated 28 October 2026 and published on 30 October 2026. The conditions follow a January 2026 opinion from the transparency commission, which flagged long-term heart and other risks. Prescribing is limited to specialists in neurology, psychiatry or paediatrics, and patients need heart checks.

What does it mean?

TENTIN is a medicine for certain conditions, and it has stricter rules for public services now. Only specialists in neurology, psychiatry or paediatrics can write the first yearly prescription, and patients need regular heart checks, including an ultrasound. Other doctors can handle the renewals that follow.

Who is affected?

Patients taking TENTIN, and the doctors and public services that prescribe or provide it.
