France approves new rulebook for Orléans-Cléry wine label

France's agriculture ministry has formally approved a new production rulebook for Orléans-Cléry, a protected wine label that certifies where and how a wine is made. The order is dated 27 October 2026 and was published in the Journal officiel on 30 October 2026. It also repeals the 2011 decree that previously governed the appellation.

What does it mean?

A protected wine name now has a fresh set of official production rules. A wine can only use the Orléans-Cléry name if it follows these rules, which set where and how it is made.

Who is affected?

Winemakers who produce wine under the Orléans-Cléry label.

What changes?

Before, the 2011 decree governed the Orléans-Cléry appellation; now the newly approved cahier des charges applies and the 2011 decree is repealed.
