France adds clesrovimab to the medicines midwives can prescribe for newborns
A French decree dated 28 October 2026 (no. 2026-1006) amends the list of medicines midwives may prescribe or use for newborns. It replaces point 11° of section I of table II in annex 41-4 of the Public Health Code, which now lists the antiviral monoclonal antibodies nirsevimab (ATC: J06BD08) and clesrovimab (ATC: J06BD10). The decree was signed by Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, Health Minister Stéphanie Rist and David Amiel, and published in the Journal officiel no. 0253 on 29 October 2026.
What does it mean?
Midwives can now use or prescribe clesrovimab for newborns, in addition to nirsevimab. The decree makes this official by updating the government list of medicines midwives are allowed to use for newborns.
Who is affected?
Midwives and patients, including newborn babies and their families.
What changes?
The decree replaces the previous wording of point 11° in table II of annex 41-4. The earlier wording is not reproduced in the source text, so the exact previous list cannot be confirmed. The new wording names nirsevimab and clesrovimab.
