Diesel reserve-release benefit to reduce wholesale margins in five French overseas territories

France has issued an order setting how the benefit from releasing strategic diesel stocks must be passed on to customers in Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, La Réunion and Mayotte. From 1 November 2026 to 31 March 2027, the maximum wholesale margin is reduced by a per-unit amount adjusted monthly, with most of the pass-through taking place between November and January. The order takes effect the day after its publication on 30 October 2026.

What does it mean?

The order requires the benefit from releasing diesel reserves to be reflected in prices in these five territories. Wholesale margins will be cut each month from 1 November 2026 to 31 March 2027, mostly between November and January.

Who is affected?

Companies that buy, sell and distribute diesel at wholesale and retail in these five territories, and final diesel customers there.
