BTK Head Koçyiğit: domestic product share in 5G is being increased, infrastructure investments continue
Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK) President Mehmet Koçyiğit spoke at the Transportation and Infrastructure Turkiye Century Summit in İstanbul. Koçyiğit said that approximately 355 billion dollars were invested in transport and communications infrastructure over the last 24 years, and that the domestic product requirement for 5G was gradually increased. He also stated that the 5G subscriber count has exceeded 45 million and that mobile download speeds have increased.
What does it mean?
The requirement to use domestically made equipment in 5G, the technology used for phone and internet services, is being increased. This means a larger share of the devices used in networks will be made in Turkey. As a result, the number of 5G subscribers has passed 45 million.
